SHADED EYES
From your face, they shine so true
They're beacons of light which reflect you
And in your eyes, I see your soul
The things you've tried to hide
I'm the one who knows what's there
Because I see beyond your shaded eyes
Some people say there's a sparkle in them
And some say they're a charming blue
But me, I see a dark pool of gray
Whenever I look your way
Maybe that's why you can never face me
Because I see beyond your shaded eyes
I remember the way they used to dance
You would always smile at me
Soon you would cast your head down
And glance back up, your eyes hollow and round
I could feel your pain, and I took the blame
Because I see beyond your shaded eyes
Slowly, silently, you drifted away
You took your feelings with your gaze
And when you started to come back around
It took me awhile to look at you again
But now you trust me, trust me with your stare
Because I see behind your shaded eyes.
